SELF DEFENSE SEMINAR: Milford Maine

June 6

Self Defense Seminar With Sifu Alan Baker

Providence Training Grounds: Milford, ME, United States, 04461

June 6th, 2026

This event will be taught as a mixed-system study, drawing from several of the training programs I work with professionally. The material will primarily come from the C-Tac® System, the Keysi Fighting Method, and elements of the Protection Response Tactics (PRT) program. Each of these systems contributes a different layer of understanding to real-world personal protection.

The C-Tac program provides the overall framework for civilian self-defense. It focuses on situational awareness, managing distance, integrated striking and grappling, and understanding how empty-hand skills connect with modern defensive tools such as firearms, knives, and everyday carry equipment. The goal is to give students a clear blueprint for recognizing danger early, managing the initial contact, and solving problems in realistic environments.

From the Keysi Fighting Method, we draw close-range striking concepts, defensive structures, and methods for dealing with chaotic attacks at clinch and impact range. Keysi emphasizes protecting the head, controlling space, and maintaining offensive capability when the fight collapses into tight quarters.

We will also incorporate material from the Protection Response Tactics program, which was developed for the protection and private security industry. PRT focuses on legally defensible control methods, positional dominance, and managing force appropriately when dealing with aggressive individuals. These methods help bridge the gap between self-defense, professional security work, and real-world confrontation management.

Throughout the event we will work through multiple levels of force, beginning with awareness and positioning, moving into control and defensive responses, and progressing into higher-level assault-counter tactics when avoidance or de-escalation is no longer possible. The goal is to give students a practical understanding of how these systems connect and how to apply them intelligently in real situations.

Taught By Sifu Alan Baker

Sifu/Guro Alan Baker is a full-time martial arts instructor and program designer with over four decades of experience teaching practical self-defense and combative skills. His work focuses on helping students develop functional abilities in striking, weapons, and integrated personal protection systems that apply to real-world situations. Drawing from a lifetime of training across multiple martial traditions, Alan emphasizes intelligent mechanics, strong fundamentals, and adaptable tactics that work under pressure.

Alan holds the rank of Full Instructor and Mataas Na Guro in Filipino Kali (Eskrima) under Guro Dan Inosanto and is also a Full Instructor in Lee Jun Fan Gung Fu and Jeet Kune Do under Sifu Dan Inosanto. His background includes extensive study in Filipino Martial Arts, edged weapon tactics, and tactical movement, with additional instruction in Pekiti-Tirsia under Tuhon Tim Waid, where he developed a strong focus on footwork, range control, and weapon application. He is also a Kru in Muay Thai Boxing under Ajarn Surachai “Chai” Sirisute, bringing a powerful striking base to his overall approach.

In addition, Alan is a Full Instructor in Progressive Martial Arts under Guro Paul Vunak, known for building aggressive, pressure-oriented combat skills, and a Guro Level Three in Maphilindo Silat under Guro Dan Inosanto, contributing elements of off-balancing, limb control, and positional dominance to his training methods.

Through seminars, instructor programs, and academy training, Alan’s goal is simple: to provide students with clear, effective self-defense skills rooted in proven martial traditions while adapting those principles for the realities of modern personal protection.

Additional Study Options

The C-Tac® Program

If you want to get more out of this event, or show up already speaking the same language, take some time to study the supporting material inside the C-Tac program. The system was built to provide a clear framework for practical self-defense training, including awareness, range management, and integrated weapons access. Reviewing the material ahead of time will help you understand the concepts behind how we train and why the methods work.

Inside the program you’ll find a structured path for developing the core principles we’ll be working with during the event. This includes movement, positioning, timing, and the integration of striking, grappling, and weapon access within a realistic self-defense context. If you want to sharpen your fundamentals and arrive already dialed in, this is a great place to begin.

C-Tac was developed to give students a reliable source of ongoing training, even if they can’t work with me in person regularly. Through the online platform, you’ll gain access to structured curriculum, drills, and instructional material that you can study at your own pace. You can train solo, work with a partner, or use it to support what you are already doing in your gym.

For those who want to go deeper, the online training connects directly to live training opportunities through instructor camps, seminars, and other events throughout the year. The online material provides the roadmap. The in-person training refines it through coaching, corrections, and pressure-tested work.
