Are The Video Acadmies Updated Regularly?

Yes. Living Mechanics and the Warrior’s Path Academy are updated consistently throughout the year.

Each January and February, we run a dedicated recording block where Alan and the team focus heavily on filming new lessons, expanding the curriculum, and improving the depth and organization of the archive. Beyond that, we continue recording year-round as classes, private lessons, seminars, camps, and workshops take place. When we can capture live training, we add it, because real teaching moments and real sessions are a major part of what makes the archive valuable.

The result is a living platform, not a one-time dump of content. New material is added regularly so members always have fresh training, deeper breakdowns, and new pathways to explore as they grow.

Can online students work toward rank?

Yes. Online students can work toward rank, but you will need to train with Alan in person at some point in the process. That can be done through private lessons, public seminars, camps, or other live events.

If you’re training in the online video archive and you want to follow the rank path, your best move is to contact us through the website and tell us that is your intention. We’ll help you map out a realistic plan based on where you live, how you train, and what events you can attend, so you’re on a clear track toward earning rank the right way.

Is it a month-to-month membership?

Yes. Membership is month-to-month, and you can cancel anytime. There are no long-term contracts. Stay enrolled for as long as you’re actively training and using the material, and if you ever need to pause, you can do that without hassle.

Is there a way to ask questions as an student?

Yes. Inside the Academy you’ll have options to ask questions and get answers from our team. You can also reach out directly to the staff if you need guidance.

In many cases, we’ll address student questions by filming a detailed response and adding it to the platform, so the Academy continues to grow based on what members are actually working through.

Do I need a training partner?

Not always, but it depends on what you’re studying and how far you want to take it.

For the Warrior’s Path program, you can make a tremendous amount of progress training solo. A large portion of the curriculum is designed for individual practice: breathwork, posture and alignment, joint expansion and mobility, strength development, tool flow training, meditation, and daily physical culture work. This is one of the reasons Warrior’s Path works so well for people with busy schedules or limited training access. You can train consistently, improve fast, and build real capability without needing a partner.

Living Mechanics Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is different. You can absolutely start and make progress on your own through movement training, solo drills, positioning concepts, mobility, and strength work that supports your grappling. But at some point, if you want real timing, pressure, sensitivity, and the ability to apply the positions against resistance, you will need live training with a partner. Grappling is a contact skill, and the feedback you get from another body is what turns knowledge into ability.

A lot of our students solve this by starting a small training group in their area. Even one or two consistent partners can make a big difference. And if you want hands-on coaching, you can also get in-person training through seminars, camps, or private lessons with Alan or the staff if you’re willing to travel. There are many ways to train, and if you reach out, we’ll help you choose the best path based on your situation and your goals.

Are There In-Person Training Options For Online Students?

Yes. Even if you train primarily through the online academies, you still have opportunities to train in person.

Alan travels all over the United States each year teaching seminars, workshops, camps, and special events across multiple martial arts systems, along with defensive tactics topics. These events are open to our online Academy students, and many members use them as a way to get hands-on coaching, refine details, and deepen their understanding of the material.

If you want help finding an event that fits your goals or location, contact us through the website. We are happy to guide you to the right training option.

How is the Academy different from YouTube?

The Academy is not a collection of random techniques. It’s a structured training platform built around curriculum, progressions, and principles that connect the dots. YouTube can be useful for inspiration, but most of what’s out there is scattered, out of sequence, and missing the “why” that makes things actually work.

Inside the Academy, the material is organized so you can build skill over time, starting with fundamentals and moving into deeper layers of mechanics, timing, and strategy. You’re not just learning moves, you’re learning a method.

And the content itself is deeper than typical online clips. Many lessons in the archive are long-form breakdowns, with videos that can run up to an hour and are packed with details, coaching cues, and the kind of explanation you usually only get in person.

On top of that, the archive keeps growing with new filming blocks and footage captured at live seminars, camps, classes, and private training sessions, so the platform stays active and evolving instead of stale.

Does Alan offer an Instructor or Affiliate programs?

Yes. Both Warrior’s Path and Living Mechanics have in-depth, detailed Instructor and Affiliate training paths for coaches who want to study the material at a higher level and, if desired, bring it into their own academy or training environment.

If you’re interested, the best next step is to contact us through the website. Tell us a little about your background and what you’re looking to build, and we’ll guide you to the right path and next steps.

Do I need any experience to join the Academy?

No. You don’t need prior experience to start. The Academy is structured so beginners can build a strong foundation step-by-step, while experienced students and coaches can go deeper into mechanics, details, timing, and higher-level training concepts. If you’re brand new, you’ll have a clear starting point and progression. If you’ve been training for years, you’ll find plenty of material to sharpen your skills, tighten your fundamentals, and expand your understanding.

Is There A Written Curriculum I will Follow?

Yes. Inside the Academy archive you’ll find detailed written curriculum documents that guide your training. These outlines help you understand what to work on, what order to study it in, and how the material fits together so you’re not just guessing or jumping around.
