The VCDT course, originally a collaboration with the Vehicle Dynamics Institute in New Jersey, was initially tailored for elite protection agents, law enforcement, and military units. It was specifically crafted to enhance their defensive tactics and close-quarter combat skills in and around various types of vehicles. Sifu Alan Baker developed this program over 15 years ago, which has since been imparted to numerous agencies and professionals across the United States.
Responding to a growing demand and the escalating instances of violence in today’s world, Alan made the strategic decision to make this valuable program available to the public. This decision aligns with the current trends in vehicular safety, where advanced automation often limits driver control in critical situations, underscoring the need for specialized defensive skills that the Vehicle Centric Defensive Tactics program provides.

“There’s a growing need for individuals who will be ready to step up in times of chaos and violence. My goal is to cultivate more of those fighter mindsets out there.”

– Sifu Alan Baker

Sifu Alan’s vision is centered on cultivating a warrior’s mindset and equipping individuals with the necessary skills to navigate chaos and violence effectively. This vision and commitment to broadening the reach of essential defensive training were the driving forces behind this program’s inception and ongoing evolution.

“Out of every one hundred men, ten shouldn’t even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back.”

Modern vehicle safety systems working agains you

Modern vehicle safety systems like Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation by Braking, and Pedestrian Detection have significantly improved road safety but can limit driver control in violent situations. These automated systems, designed to maintain safe driving conditions, may unexpectedly adjust vehicle speed or apply brakes, potentially immobilizing the car during a threat. This involuntary halt can trap occupants inside or force them to exit the vehicle and directly confront the danger.
Furthermore, Vehicle Safety Shutdown features, including Fuel Shut-Off Valves and battery isolation units, are crucial post-impact to prevent fires, but they can render the vehicle inoperable when immediate movement is essential. While these advancements are invaluable in regular driving and have reduced accidents, their automation might strip the driver of quick decision-making and mobility, highlighting the need for vehicle focused defensive tactics training like Vehicle Centric Defensive Tactics.
